Project Overview
Research including five user interviews was conducted to solidify a problem statement and flesh out the user
persona. A consistent theme in research was the desire to plan better in order to capitalize on memorable
travel experiences with loved ones. This data lead Sarah to the user persona, Micah, who was wanting to utilize
a travel app to plan travel more efficiently to maximize his time with his family and relieve the burden of
travel planning from his wife. The finalized prototype gives the user options to customize their travel
experience to their needs so they can plan more effectively.

User Research
User research confirmed the researcher’s hypothesis that travelers wanted a way to plan their travel more efficiently to maximize their time and create more opportunities for memories.
User Persona
The research further helped to develop a problem statement and user persona’s metrics and story. An Empathy Map to help the researcher resonate with her user
persona’s needs and desires.
Ideation
From research, Sarah ideated solutions that would uniquely solve the problem using an Affinity Diagram to organize the interviews topically. Then she placed them on an “I Like, I Wish, I Wonder” template to brainstorm solutions. From there, she narrowed down the app features using a Feature Priority Matrix.
Competitor Analysis
Sarah created a Competitor Analysis, comparing three other travel applications with similar features. The researcher focused on how user-friendly the app was, how long the onboarding process took, how clear the app was, and if there were any noticeable competitive threats.
Prototyping
Sarah developed the bones of the application through a paper sketch, then a low to mid-fidelity wireframe in Figma.
This was her rubric for her high-fidelity wireframe that took users through a travel quiz that asked questions such as their dining preferences and amenities needed.
After the user finishes the quiz, travel marker icons appear on a map indicating the user’s desired locations based on the quiz results.
A tutorial video then appears to instruct the user how to use the application.
Final Usability Testing
A user testing plan was developed and
five users were commissioned for testing. The feedback received was to add certainoptions on the selections list of the quiz and modify the tutorial video to allow for
a greater length of time for users to view the video material.
The final prototype was iterated based on user feedback.
Final Prototype
This is the final prototype based on user feedback. For future considerations, Sarah would like to collect more data on the preferred amenities to collect more of a database for the quiz selections adding a more precise list of what people prefer.
